I upgraded from Xp home to XP pro. I had a lot of problems doing it and now
have XP pro on the C & D drive with a dual boot option. Can I uninstall XP on
the D drive and remove the dual boot option as well. Cant find any method on
the installation disc to do this. Cheers, Jeff

Simple, thier is no upgrade from home to xp pro,the upgrade is for older
windows
OS.To install pro from xp home, install xp pro cd,boot to xp cd,select
install xp,
new copy, delete the partition (xp home),create one, then xp formats and
installs
auto...However with youre problem,boot to xp cd,select recovery,press enter
key for password, select which OS you want to enter with (wont matter),then
type:DiskPart In DiskPart delete the partitions (all),create one, press ESC
key,
type:EXIT Usually one would reboot to xp cd & install, you might shutdown &
remove all hds but the one for xp,replug other(s) once xp installed....

The easiest way to remove the XP Pro installation from your D
drive is to format D from within Disk Management. Formatting D
will remove all the data so make sure you back up any data you
wish to retain.

Go to Start -> Run and enter diskmgmt.msc in the Open box.
Click OK.
Right click your D drive and select Format from the menu.

Note: You can also access Disk Management by right clicking My
Computer and selecting Manage from the menu. In the left hand
column of Computer Management, click on Disk Management.

If formatting D is not an option then you would simply delete
the D:\Windows folder. You can also delete folders such as
D:\Documents and Settings and D:\Program Files once you've
backed up any files from those folders that you want to keep.

Finally, go to Start -> Run and enter msconfig in the Open box.
Click OK.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab.
Hit the "Check all boot paths" button.
You should see a message about an invalid entry.
Go ahead and remove that entry from your boot.ini file.
Close the System Configuration Utility and restart your
computer.
You should now boot directly into your XP installation on C.

If you'd rather edit the boot.in file manually, follow the
procedure outlined in this article:

How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q289022/

Your boot.ini file should end up looking like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows
XP Professional Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Good luck
