Windows XP Pro Updates

when I ask to install an update, the software is
downloaded to my machine but the install process hangs.
In addition I am not able to install/unistall any other
software packages. I have run a repair from my original
install disks but that did not seem to fix the problem.
I really do not want to rebuild my machine AGAIN!

Hi Norm,

Locate the WindowsUpdate.log file under \Windows or \Winnt. Open it and
scroll to the bottom. Look at the error codes and compare them against this
site:

Delete the contents of the system32/catroot2 dir, then download the updates
again.
