Windows XP Pro not logging off/shutting down correctly

Hello, I have a Windows XP Professional PC, on a Peer-to-
Peer network, that you have to tell to log off or shut
down twice. The first time you do this, nothing happens,
but when you do it the 2nd time it logs off fine, or
shuts down fine. Any suggestions would be much
appreciated. TIA

It sounds like the first log off is from the network and
the 2nd is from your pc.
