Windows Xp pro keeps restarting and serious error messages

Rob

Hi,
I had a problem a couple of months ago with my computer restarting
randomly and then a serious error message, eventually loads of things
failed like system restore and loads of other things. I was having
BSOD with stop 0x0000050 errors and ntfs.sys errors and
page_fault_in_non_paged_area errors. I took it to a computer repair
shop and he uninstalled windows and then reinstalled it. It worked OK
for a short time but it is now restarting randomly again.

So far I have tried the following:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled windows (the man in the repair shop
done this for me)
2. took out sticks of ram one at a time to see if one was causing the
problem - also tried memtest but the computer always restarts when
trying to use it
3. downloaded SiS 315 driver that the microsoft website said I needed
when it scanned my computer
4. checked fans all spinning - they are
5. Tried running the computer with the sides of the case off to see if
it would help - (if the problem was tempature).
6. Send error reports to microsoft - it comes back with error caused
by graphics device driver or problem being researched.

After carrying out the above I still have random (and not so random -
when I play games - always crashes in about the same place) restarts
and serious error messages.

I have had 2 BSOD since I had windows reinstalled one saying
Bad_Pool_Caller Stop 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000cd4,0x804d21f8, 0x
f89dc9dc) and the other one saying page_fault_in_non_paged_area - I
used to get the page_fault_in_non_paged_area before I had windows
reinstalled but have never had the Bad_Pool_Caller Stop 0x000000c2
until it happened on friday I think.

I now seem to be getting serious error messages even when the computer
doesn't restart itself. I am getting them when I turn off the computer
in the usual way and then turn the computer back on. I downloaded an
update from the microsoft website that was supposed to cure a problem
like this but it isn't working.

I am not very good with computers and have read a lot about these
problems from various sites including the microsoft website but I
can't understand what they are trying to tell me at all.

Anyone got any ideas, I would really apprieciate your help.

Hi Rob,

There is no easy way to resolve this. BAD_POOL_CALLER, like the page fault
error, is an indication of a driver issue. The problem is "which one?". You
indicated that some error messages have indicated a display driver. What
display card are you using, and have you updated those drivers from the
manufacturer (not Windows Update)?
