I am planning to buy a portable computer. It does NOT come with a floppy
diskette. How can I install windows XP.

Windows XP does not boot like windows 9x.
I know I can install windows 9x and then xp. But there must be a better way.

Hope someone knows..
thanks

All retail Windows XP CDs are bootable so a floppy is not necessary.

Put the Windows cd in the cd drive and restart, set your cd drive as the
first boot device in the bios.

A boot diskette is a thing of the past, as all legitimate WinXP
installation CDs are already bootable.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
