Windows XP on starting up...

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but here goes...

On starting my Windows XP Home Edition PC recently, I notice the boot-up log
on image is dull, then seems to clear to perfect picture as the computer
carries on booting up into Windows.

Can anyone please tell me why this may be happening and what I can do to
rectify it? Do I need to reinstall anything from my XP installation disk to
start up with clear image??

If the image goes from dull to clear slowly then it could be the monitor.
If the image starts out dull and then instantaneously a sharp perfect
picture then it something else.

Try restarting Windows (warm re-boot, not a cold or power off reboot) and
see if the problem still exist.

This would appear to be the problem that I am experiencing, JS.

With the problem being a persistent one, I made the last resort decision to
overwrite Windows - which led to a late night call to the Microsoft Helpline
to activate my copy of XP again - and this resolved the problem completely.

Ideally, I would have liked to have gained a resolution without having had
to do an overwrite, but all's well that ends well!
