windows xp notification area

This question is posted here as i can't find a general area anywhere. I can
hide/unhide active/inactive icons in the task bar area with no problems.
However I have a long list of past items which seems to stay there forever.
Is there any way past items can be removed from the notifications list. I
can't think of a logical reason for retaining them.

Would appreciate any response which would help (or even commiserate).

You're saying couldn't find a more related newsgroup for your question than
Outlook? How about one of the Windows XP newsgroups?

You need to post there with more info about what the problem is. Such as
what is a Notification List? Do you mean the Notification Area?
