Windows XP New Hardware Notification

Whenever I "add" new hardware (like plugging in a jump drive, or an external
drive), a box comes up once, or even multiple times, as follows:

"Windows media can perform the same action each time you insert a disk or
connect a device with this kind of file:"
The dialog box gives several choices and asks: "What do you want Windows to
do?"

1. Since I ALWAYS click cancel to this box, is there a way to keep these
boxes
from appearing each time I "add" new hardware?

2. If I WERE to select one of the options, and clicked the "Always do the
selected action." box, how would I make it STOP doing what ever action I had
selected, and go back to asking me as it did before?

Thanks,
Bernie

IMO, one of Windows XP's unintentional intrusions. Most of
the time, Step 2 works. That is, select "Take no Action" and
then confirm it to always take this action and OK. For jump
drives, the dialog box will cease unless the jump drive has
been altered by another computer, such as being assigned a
different drive letter in another computer, re-ID'd by the
other computer or the jump drive is re-formatted.
