Disabling CD Insert notification

C

Cliff Lewis

Every time I insert a CD in my burner, a message box pops up asking
what to do with it. I click the "Take no action" option, and check the
box saying, "Always do the selected action." But the same thing
happens the next time I insert a CD. How do I disable insert
notification?

Thanks,
Cliff Lewis

Use Regedit to edit the Registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom]
"AutoRun"=dword:00000001

Change the AutoRun dword value to 0

I think that instead of touching your registry, you can do the following.
Right click the CD-ROM drive
Go to Properties
Go to Auto Play
Choose: Select an action to perform
and choose "take no action"
