Windows autoplay dialog box is empty, no actions to select? XP Pro

Craig

I just completed a new system with XP Pro 64-bit. Whenever a CD/DVD is
inserted into my Philips Sata drive or a device is connected I get the usual
pop-up box that has the following, "Windows can perform the same action every
time you insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file. What do
you want to do?"

At the bottom is a checkbox with the caption, "Always do the selected
action." along with the "OK" & "Cancel" buttons. The big problem is that the
middle selection area, for the actions that are supposed to happen, is
completely blank! There is nothing to select to do the actions.

If anyone could steer me to a solution to this annoying problem it is
appreciated, thanks!

Regards,
Craig

EXCELLENT ... the link you provided had a solution which restored the
features with a single registry edit!! Thank you ju.c for a fast and accurate
solution for my problem!

The part of the post you linked for me which helped was this:
Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft
\Windows
\CurrentVersion
\Explorer
\AutoplayHandlers
\EventHandlers
\ShowPicturesOnArrival

Under the last key above I deleted the following entry and the options
returned in the autoplay box!

"NeroAutoPlay7ViewPhotos"=""

Thanks for your help.

Craig

Thanks for the feedback! Just in case this happens again, you can fix it automatically using the free CleanHandlers tool that I wrote.

Hello Ramesh,

This problem is bugging from the beginning.
Recently I bought Nikon Coolpix S220.I installed the required software as
mentioned in the QuickStart manual and connected the camera to my PC.When the
camera is connected ,it appears under Scanners & cameras in My Computer and
not as a drive.
A popup window opens 'Camera Connected' but no items appear to select for
the action in the Autoplay.
As per the previous threads I checked the Regedit but found no events for
ShowPicturesOnArrival.

I tried your tool CleanHandlers to repopulate the values for the registries
but nothing happened.
I am working on Windows XP with SP2 , also tried SP3 installation but could
not succeed.

Please let me know the event to be populated for AutoPlay along with the
values.
I have MS Scanner and Camera Wizard and Nikon Transfer.
Moreover my camera as mentioned above appear under Imaging Device in Device
Manager and not as USB Mass Storage Device.

Please let me know your fix.
thanks in advance
Sameera

Try this forum thread:

If that does not work you may be able to copy the entries from the
Default Users registry section, or I could give you a reg file with my
defaults (32-bit, same?).

Let me know if you still need help.
