My Broadband supplier is Homecall pipex. I am able to connect but cannot
access any Internet pages. However, when I restore my PC to an earlier date I
am able to connect to Internet pages. When I turn my computer off I get the
same problems not being able to connect. Any ideas? My Broadband supplier
have not been very helpful and say it's a problem with my PC.

Since you didn't provide any Info or Error messages or IE Version, OS
Version. I will have a shot in the dark for this:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malwares and Viruses by
scanning for them.

Open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset Click [OK]
Reboot your Computer and try the links.
Note the space between ipconfig_/ , and netsh_winsock_reset ( _ =
Space).
you can download the winsock fixer from here:

Do you have any third-party toolbar installed?.

you can try safemode w/networking
to see if the symptoms don't exists
in there. when you do have access
to the net, doesn't hurt to have additional
browsers like netscape and firefox in
addition to ie. It's likely that
one of them will get you to the net....

Thanks for the help, but it didn't solve the problem. I followed your helpful
instructions but still didn't work. I am still getting the error message
Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage.

firefox is ok and
netscape is fun too.

possibly using them above
for a while, will get some of
the issues with ie resolved.

but ie7 does crash on occassion
so having backup internet browsers
is a good idea anyways....

what you might want to try
afterwards is to uninstall ie via
the add/remove programs windows
components.

then run a registry cleaner like eusing

then use your pc for a couple of days
and with your netscape browser, browse
over to microsoft.com and
download the ie7 and try again.

if it still doesn't download/install
there may be something preventing it.
but on the otherhand, netscape is a
very good alternative. so i wouldn't loose
any sleep over ie7. microsoft simply needs
to put into place to make it more convenient
for microsoft customers to install

Homecall suggested I install firefox.
