XP hangs since wireless network card install.

older HP xg922, wireless card D-link wda 1320, connected to broadband through
an Ativa router.

I am able to share folders with my other computer. I am able to connect to
the internet on both computers.

When viewing internet pages without warning the system with the D-link card
XP will completely hang and I have to shut it down with the power button.

I spent about a half hour trying to explain what was happening to a HP
"service professsional" only to end it with him sending me a link to show me
how to connect to the internet when I am NOT able to. I AM able to connect.
XP hangs after I do though.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Drivers are the latest/greatest for the card in question?
Could be the card is defective...

Update-- Actually got it to hang again, this time during networking to my
other system (playing music files).
Do you think it could be that this unit only has a 150W power supply.? I
am not sure what the power requirements are for the wireless card but I will
try to find out.

I tried two cards (different brands) on a system and both times there
were either freezes or chatter with the sound card. I suspected a
conflict between the sound card and the wireless card since most freezes
were when sound was played.

The final solution was a USB wireless device. I know that some don't
like them, and they may overheat, but I imagine that has been corrected
in the later models.
