Windows XP Installer Crashes on Device Installation

Hello,

I am putting together a new system and the Windows XP installer freezes
during device installation (always with 34 minutes remaining). This forces me
to have to reboot the machine, after which Windows tries to resume
installation. Usually, after about 3 tries the installer will get past this
point and finish the install. However once Windows is installed it won't let
me logon. It demands a password for any user created.

I updated the BIOS on my motherboard (Abit N7F-S2G) last night, however I am
still experiencing the same problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this?

I'm a bit befuddled.

Thanks,

JD

It's some hardware that is not finding a driver. Probably a old NIC card. If
you can pull the nic, I would try setup without it, and add it back later.

Hi,

You were absolutely right. My motherboard has an integrated LAN card. I
simply disabled it in the BIOS and reinstalled windows. Worked like a charm!

Thanks!
