then created a user on the laptop so it can be used locally, full admin
right etc. logged on as the new user, run up word 2003 and the windows
installer started, ok seen this before, usually does it once, ran all
the offices apps up and the same thing. logged off the laptop then
logged back on as admin, the screen comes on and the windows music
plays, but no icons, not for at least 8 mins!!! if i doulbe click an
icon, it takes 4 mins for it to do something, and i sometimes get the
message explorer error sorry blah blah blah......ive had this happen on
a number of occasions and its driving me nuts.....is the windows
updates? is it our domain? is it microsoft taking the mick?

Hi Badger,
Please write the Explorer Error from your Event Viewer and post it here.
Try to press Alt + Del + Ctrl and see which Processor taken the most of the
Disk space Usage, what about your disk space do you have enough for Xp/office
2003.
May be when you try to log on as admin and the domain not available the
program take long to try to connect, hence you said you create another user
to use the Laptop locally, does this happen when you log on as New user not
Admin? or it happpen with both.
please write back here
nass
