Windows XP installation problem

Are you running a Prescott CPU on an Intel i875/i875 chipset. If so which
motherboard.

No, not a Prescott... but I do have an i875 board. An Asus P4C800E Deluxe.
 
You could always copy the files to the harddrive first (either using a
FAT32 partition for your install and convert it to NTFS later, or have a
separate partition just for the install files) and run winnt that way. Be
sure to boot with a disk that has smartdrv enabled.

Thought of that, but the XP setup program won't run unless booted into some
sort of NT environment.
