Windows XP install - 2 copies!

I seem to have performed 2 separate installs of Windows
XP. I know this because when I restart my computer I am
provided with an option of selecting either Windows XP or
Windows XP. I know now I should have performed an
upgrade instead of a new install when I re-installed XP.
My 'C' drive has only one partition-- so my questions is:

How do I remove the 2nd instance of Windows XP
(afterwhich I intend to re-install-- UPGRADE! -- Windows
XP one final time).

Thank you.

If your going to reinstall XP why worry about the 2 separate installs. Boot
from the CD, format the partition and do an install.
