Windows XP Hotfix

When I went into the Add/Remove Programs area to remove some programs I
noticed that there are about 20-30 Windows XP Hotfix programs on there that
all have different numbers and/or letters. What are these and do I need them?
I am trying to rid my computer of the programs it does not absolutely need.
When I tried to remove one to see what would happen another window came up
that said if I removed it some of my programs would not work. Could someone
explain this?

Hi

They would be the Security/Critical Updates. May I suggest that they are
left where they are, otherwise you may put your system at risk?
