John

I have just done a clean install on my laptop (using the
reload CD). When I finished installing everything back on
I tried to use the Error-checker tool. When I restart my
laptop to begin the error check I get the following
message:

Cannot open volume for direct access.
The type of the file system is NTFS.
IFSUTIL: Can't open drive. Status returned = c0000043.
Windows has finished checking the disk.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem and how the
problem came in? I do not want to do another clean
install as I spent all day reinstalling and setting
everything up!

Thanks.

It should offer you the ability to have the system check the drive the next
time you boot.

Are you running Zone Alarm Version 5?

No,

I swiched on my laptop today and it did a Error-check!!!!
(A proper full one). Even though I did not ask it to do
one!!!! It said that I did. I think it has some how fixed
the problem. I'm going to try again and tell it do one.
