Chkdsk utility at startup error

When I schedule the Chkdsk utility to run at startup, I receive an error when I restart the computer:

Cannot open volume for direct access.
The type of the file system is NTFS.
IFSUTIL: Can't open drive. Status returned = c0000043.
Windows has finished checking the disk.

This happens every time I boot my machine, should I disable chkdsk?

Thanks Sue

Yes I think you need to. Go to the command prompt and type chkntfs/? and use
the option to turn off the chkdsk at start-up. You may need to boot from the
XP CD and select the repair console (press R) which will give you a c:\
prompt, then type chkdsk /? and run chkdsk with the correct option to check
the c: drive & repair. (if you still want to check the disk)
I have a similar problem and cannot use chkdsk from within windows.
