Help!
I've got a Toshiba Laptop with WinXP Home and am getting the BAD_POOL_CALLER
Stop error with [0X000000C2 0X00000043 0XC2A3D000 0X00000000 0X00000000],
and when I boot with the XP CD and attempt to load the Recovery Console it gives
the
same error! The MS knowledge base says this is a driver problem, but I can't
boot into
the recovery console to work with it. The unit was working at bedtime but in
the AM it
started this.
I have removed the drive and put it in another unit to get the dump file, but
there isn't one because there is also no pagefile, which the KB says it has to
have to be able to create a memory dump. It also won't create a bootlog file,
probably for the same reason, so I can't use that to see which driver file is
crashing it. I might have to use a parallel install, but would like some
suggestions
from the community on my best course of action... I've never had one that
prevented
getting into the Recovery Console before.
This may have been caused by Autoupdate installing SP2 while I slept, but I
need to know how to get past this problem!

Thanks Treeman,
Useful info in the XP Resource kit link, but no answers in how to recover
from this situation or determine which device is the offending one as it's not
listed in the BSOD. And of course since I can't boot to a command prompt or
even the Recovery Console I am unable to run any utilities on the system.
Just a note: I did boot to a diagnostics CD (Micro2000's MicroScope 2005) to
verify that the hardware is functioning properly, which it is. Must be a driver
issue. period. If I could discover which driver it would be a simple matter of
replacing it with a bogus but non error one such as intelide.sys which would at
least let it boot into some mode so I could do some driver replacements.

Thinking I may have to format and start over,
Robert
