Windows Xp Home Installer error

Every time I log into my Xp home account a brief flash occurs in the middle
of the screen. One day it slowed enough to see that it was a windows
installer trying to install something. It happens so fast I can't click
cancel to stop it. Now whenever I try to install anything needing the windows
installer in get an error "Windows Installer cannot be reached". Office 2003
also has several of those windows installers windows pop up everytime I try
to create or read an email. I have checked my start up and there is nothing
new in there. I have scanned my system several times for malware and viruses,
all state my system was clean. The Hijack this log is free from susp entrys.
My WMI can no longer contact anything because " interface class not
registered". I have lost my network also. I went so far as to do a reinstall
on my windows home xp service pack 2 without any resolve. I can't even
download the new updates because the windows installer cannot be reached. I
am about ready to toss the whole thing! Any help would be appreciated. I have
to go to work to access the internet and I am sure I have left out important
information.

What is the status of Windows Installer in SERVICES.MSC?

Anything in the Event Viewer log for MSIInstaller?

Windows installer is automatic. As far as the event log msiinstaller is on
there a multitude of times. Most of the times the error is "failed to connect
to the server error 0x80040154". I cannot install or uninstall anything
including updates. While going through the events logs I do see errors
related directly to adobe, which is probably the installer flashes in my
outlook. Of course I can't uninstall adobe because of the installer errors!
