On my home PC I run Windows XP. I recently installed service pack 3 and
updated my virus protection to McAfee Internet Security 2009. I did both in
the same day. Since then, after I log in, the windows installer pops up.
All it says is windows is preparing to install. It does that for every
application I try to open and even some I don't. After a time of about 10
minutes, it stops flashing and everything seems to work fine the remainder of
my session. Once I log off, and back in, I go through it again. I
uninstalled both the service pack and McAfee, it still kept doing it. I
since installed both again. I even installed Windows installer 4.5 and it
didn't correct it. Any guidance someone can provide would be greatly
appreciated.
