Windows XP Home Edition

Windows XP Home Edition does not open. Message: System Error Insufficient
system resources exist to complete the API. No access to the Microsoft to
downloads. Any assistance is appreciated.

Reasons could be numerous, but the first thing I'd check for is a full
hard-disk.

If you can get a commandline going, type 'dir' for a report on free space.

Other thing might be worth a check is to observe the BIOS messages at
startup, and see if the reported memory (RAM) is a lot less than it should
be. If so that might indicate a faulty or unseated DIMM.

Prior to this issue I received message that my C drive was full on my desk
top. I have a new lap top. Can I free up space in the old hard drive using
my new lap top hard drive.--

Yes if you can find a way to get them networked together. If the desktop
won't start or run properly that might not be easy, though.

If you already have an Internet router this should not be difficult,
otherwise a crossover Ethernet (RJ45) lead between the two is the simplest
option.
