Windows XP Home Edition service pack 2 fully updated; screen freez

Hi. For the system, see subject above. In the last couple of days it has
happened a few times to me that my screen froze !

Last time it happened (today), I had been away from the computer for a
while, and when I came back the screen was frozen and the computer didn't
respond at all. I'm not completely sure but I thin that the issue of my
screen/computer freezing (mostly?) happens when I've been away from the
computer for a while. The computer is wirelessly connected to the router,
which is connected to the cable modem. no other computers in my "home network"

Also, I recently reinstalled (after formatting the harddisk) Windows XP and
updated it.

I've also encountered a few crashes lately when I boot up the system in the
morning.

Does anyone know why my screen freezes, and what I can do about it ?

Might not be relevant, but : I download IE 7 (not a beta version) a few days
ago.

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you are having hardware problems. Your computer could be
overheating or there could be other problems. Here are some general
hardware troubleshooting steps:

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
