Windows XP (Home Edition): Proofing Tools

I have a recently purchased Compaq Presario S-series. The
Proofing Tools are not working. After I selected Tools ->
and Options, the entries for Dictionary, Writing Style,
and Thesaurus are all blank. How do I solve this problem?
The OEM continues to cut me off after putting me on hold.
Thank you very much.
 
Strange, my version of XP did not come with any proofing tools. Do you
understand the difference between an operating system and an application?
