Windows XP Home Edition Does Not Show My Primary Slave Hard Drive (HD).

The HD (Quantum Fireball ST1.6A) is hooked up properly to
the IDE chain and all jumpers are set properly. I only
want to use this HD for caching, (virtual paging). The
BIOS does recognize the HD as IDE-1 (primary
slave). "Device Manager" shows the HD and says it is
working properly. However, it is not listed in "My
Computer" under "Hard Disk Drives".

Please Advise...

AMD Athlon Processor
1.24GHz
256MB of Ram

JT sends.

Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage".
Disk management is listed under Storage on the left
Select 'disk management'
The drive should appear in the right hand panel
Right-click the drive and initialize.
You should then be able to partition and format (NTFS usually).

If you need further details then there is info on installing a disk using
disk management here

http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/howto/install_xp_disk_mgmt.html

Although it is on the Seagate site the instructions should work for any
drive.

Hope that helps

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
select Disk Management.

The drive should now show up on the right hand side of the screen... from
where you can partition, format it and assign it a drive letter.
