80Gig HD (slave) not showing in XP.

Just added a second HD as a Slave connected on same ribbon as Master on
Primary. Bios is set to Auto detect.
I shows in Device Manager but as 76348MB, does not show in My Computer or
Win Explorer. How do I find it so it can be formated?

XP Pro on 13Gig master
Asus A7V8X-X MB AMD 2200+ Processor
1 Gig DDR
Both HD are Samsung (new is SP0802N) Jumpers set to Slave.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

restart your computer go into your BIOS and set your
slave drive as your first boot device

O-K, set the new 80G as 1st boot device and saved. That just told me there
was no OS. It did show as C: but no way to format. ?? I think I'm missing
something. First time I have ever tried setting up a slave HD.

Go back to your BIOS and undo the change you made. Setting an empty drive as
"first boot device" makes no sense. The drive with your operating system on
it is the one you boot to.

Reboot the computer and go into disk management (Right click "My Computer"
and choose manage or go to start> run and type in compmgmt.msc) to partition
and format the new drive.

Why would he want to try to boot off an added slave drive that hasn't been
partitioned or formatted?
