windows xp home edition boot install

I have windows xp home edition. I am getting the strangest page come up when
I turn the computer on. It only stays on for 25 seconds so I can't even read
everything on it. It gives me 4 options: start in safe mode, last known good
configuration, and 2 more that I couldn't catch before the screen blacks out.
It tells me to use the arrow keys to choose an option. I choose start in safe
mode and the screen completely blacks out. I can't get anything, none of my
keys work, and I end up having to manually shut it down. When I restarted it
and choose the other option of last known good configuration I get a whole
page starting out with:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows\system32\1_intl.nls. I can't do
anything with this screen either. I desperately need help. Any suggestions
out there?

What you describe is not a problem, it is the BIOS screen, not a prob
except if you can't boot into Windows normally?
One of the options you failed to note would be to boot with CD-rom support
Do you have your WinXP disk?
Do you have an emergency Boot floppy? (Though your PC maybe configured
not to initially boot from floppy drive?)
If when you start up your PC and this BIOS screen appears,
If you do nothing - what happens? Does WinXP then load normally?
If so, don't worry about the BIOS screen, everything is normal.
If WinXP dosen't load - post back here.
