windows xp home edition and office xp professional

I bought a Dell Dimension in May 2001 with Office XP
Professional bundled. I had planned to upgrade the
Windows 98 when Windows XP eventually came out, but never
did. I just had to install a new hard drive, so this
seems a good time to do the upgrade. Is Windows XP Home
Edition okay or do I need Windows XP Professional to use
Office XP Professional?

No, you don't *have* to get Win XP Pro to use Office XP
Pro. In fact, you don't have to get either version of
Win XP to use Office XP Pro, you can use with Win 98 if
you wanted to. However, Office XP was optimized to work
with Win XP (either home or pro edition). Win XP Home
Edition was meant to be a fit for the "home user", as Win
XP Professional Edition was aimed at the "business user"
or "power user". Win XP Pro is about *security*, it has
better security features over the home edition, bottom
