Windows XP Home: Automatic login

Following a hard drive crash on my old machine, I have recently purchased a
new PC which came with Windows XP Home pre-installed.

I am the only user. I have successfully gotten rid of the "click on your
picture to log in" Welcome Screen (or whatever it's called). Now, I have
the Windows Login dialog box that pops up at startup.

I know that this is an install-time option (to disable that box when there
is only a single user on the machine). Is there a way to disable it so that
the startup completes without intervention *without* having to reinstall
Windows XP?

Thanks for your assistance, and please let me know if my problem description
is unclear.

.. Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.
.. Type in the following:
control userpasswords2
.. now click OK
.. In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the
primary logon.
.. Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.
.. Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected
users password.

Click OK.
The changes will work the next time you restart your computer.
