windows xp hangs (or does not seem to respond) before loading the
logon screen. A blue screen appears with the windows xp logo at the
center right of the screen. I recently installed another OS in my
primary partition and currently i boot from floppy. Please help by
replying a solution to this problem.

Hi

Are you saying that you have two OSes on the same partition? If so, that
could be the problem - may I suggest that one of OSes is install onto a
different partition.

No.
They were installed on completely different partitions.
But now, I have deleted the OS and installed another copy of xp over
that.
Now atleast i can use windows but it is empty. All my applications are
on a diiferent xp installation.
Now it seems to me that the user accounts files are corrupted or some
sort of that. I noticed that just after the screen which I get, the
user names appear to select between them. So while accessing the user
names and passwords from user accounts xp may be putting that screen.
And as the user files are corrupted, xp cannot access them and
therefore is unable to display the next screen.
Also when I try to start Recovery Console it does not accept the
Administrator password, which also signifies that the user files are
missing or corrupted.
So there was probably no problem having two almost completely
different OSes in one computer (or a hard disk).

Hi

If the OSes (same or nor) are on different partitions, then you should not
have any problems. Problems occur if two OSes are installed onto the same
partition.
