Windows XP forgets settings on re boot

I use the classic desktop setting, putting the task bar on
the left hand side of the screen, with a single icon on
the screen "My Computer". I have used XP for a long time
now, and have run it on three different processors, as
I've updated my system and have had no problems at all,
until now, when I updated to a P4. The problem I'm having
is when I change the "My Computer" to "System Master", On
re boot, the system changes the name back to the Default.
Also at re boot, the task Bar narrows and puts the
language Bar back on. If anyone know how to set the
system to remember my settings please contact me by e-
mail, thank you.

It may help if you knew what the system is,

Main board is Intel D875PBZ
Video Card is Asus V9520 Magic/T (GeForce FX 5200)

Try RIGHT clicking your TASKBAR and unchecking CASCADE.
