Windows XP Files System Does Not Refresh

R

Randy Perryman

I have an interesting problem: One of my users explorer does not refresh
on one set of folders. We have a group share off our server and whenever he
copies a file into it, the view for him does not refresh, until an F5 is
pressed.

Any idea's?

I have the same problem. It also appears to be in a shared folder.

Other folders seem to work OK.

I tried using the make all folders alike, but it did not help.

Solution to "shared documents" not refreshing

I had the same problem and found the solution on the microsoft web site. Here is a link:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823291

This is my interpretation of the info from the link:

Make sure you have the latest Windows XP service pack then modify the registery (as below) and reboot.
Obviously, if you are not comfortable modifying a registery, don't try this.

Here are the steps:
1. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
2. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
3. Type NoSimpleNetIDList, and then press ENTER.
4. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
5. Type 1, and then click OK.

Exit the registery and reboot.

Don't forget to test, to make sure it works.

Good luck!
