Windows XP Fax

Installed fax with add/remove programs. When I send fax it dials and then I get a busy signal even on a fax number that is confirmed to be free. Can anyone help?

Check your dialing rules.... sounds like it's not putting in the 1 before
the area code or perhaps you have a special long distance access code.

First, check your phone line. You can do so using -
Start Menu ->Programs -> Accessories -> Communication ->
Hyperterminal.

If you are able to dial a number successfully, look for
your modem in the list of Fax-Compatible modems at

If it is not on the list, you might want to try using a
certified modem.
