Windows XP does not shutdown with NIS 2006

I just upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2006 and am having the usual
issues with Windows not being able to close down. I have tried to download
the Symantec removal tool, but no luck - links never respond, and neither do
Symantec.

Does anyone out there know the manual steps for removing NIS 2006 cleanly
(not just add/remove programs, but also registry etc.) Or have the removal
tool posted somewhere other than the Symantec site?

Thanks!

Check one thing that may be causing it.

Open NIS
Select Options>Norton Antivirus
Under System select Auto-Protect>Advanced
Uncheck "Scan floppy disk in A: for boot viruses when shutting down"

See if that resolves the problem when shutting Windows down

Thanks Dave - unfortunately, this didn't solve the problem. I tried to reboot
after I unchecked this, and Windows still didn't shut down.
