Windows XP crashes

My windows XP computer has been working well for some time
now. A week or two ago, it started experiencing an issue
that caused the computer to crash, and the screen to
either go blank or stop the picture in motion. This would
happen at anytime after log in, and the cause is not
known. 1 or 2 times, the computer managed to restart on
it's own and display an error message concerning
incompatibility with my Geforce 4 Ti graphics card. I do
not believe this is the problem since the computer has had
no such problems for almost 7 months. My computer is now
unusable, the screen either does not display anything on
startup, occasionaly it will display for around 5 minutes,
then, regardless of what is happening onscreen, the
picture with dissapear and the screen will go blank. Any
sound will stop or loop, and the computer will still be
on, but no key strokes register. Any help will be greatly
appreciated. I really want my computer back!
