Windows XP crashes after connecting to internet

I am getting the following error as soon as I connect to
the internet :

"Generic Host Process for Win32 services encountered a
problem and needed to close"

After some time a window is popped which says 'Windows must
now restart because the RPC service terminated
unexpectedly' and reboots after 60 seconds.

Any clue to resolve this?
