Windows XP Crash

I am using Windows XP home addition on a pentium 4 with
512 megs of memory. My daughter recently installed a
full version of Sims and my computer has been quickly
going downhill. To the point where I can no longer
easily get into my computer. I have to use the safe
mode. I would like windows to fix the problem without
formatting my hard drive. I am using the start up disk
and constantly tapping the F12 key. I end up in repair
mode. so far so good. But eventually it asks me for my
administrator password. I do not have one. So I went in
and created one. However when I go back in through F12
it still asks for my administrative password and does not
recongnize the one I just set. Any suggestions!!!!

I do not know why MS makes it so hard to ask them an
email question, maybe it is just the volumn of email that
they would get, but there help center stinks.

If putting in a disk and tapping f12 gets you into repair mode, it's pretty
obvious that you have an oem-customized version of XP, in which case MS
isn't going to be able to help you. They have no idea about the
customizations the OEM has done on your computer.

You're best of contacting the manufacturer and seeing what you should do
next.
