Windows XP crash/reboot

When I boot up to windows signing in screen and do so, my PC crashes and
reboots again. I can start in safe mode but cannot restore last settings as
this appears disabled and can only be enabled in normal startmode which I can
not do. Any suggestions ?

Trebor, there's a way to do a system restore from a Command Prompt in
Safe Mode. You could give that a try

Rich Barry, thanks for the tip. I tried this but even in the command mode
after following your suggestion it comes up as system restore has been turned
off and can't be turned on in safe mode. I'm in a catch 22 situation as I
cant get back into normal mode to turn on system restore !
