Hi Folks,

I have Widows XP HE installed and MS Office 2003 installed. I have
automatic updates turned off. When I go to Windows update site
manually I get a message telling me I can't update because automatic
updates are turned off. Is ther a way around this??????

Thanks

There should be, unless you have an issue regarding validation of your
Windows version.

What is the actual text of the error message? Verbatim please.

Hi Ron,

I just went to the update page and tried the updates to see what the
message is. It is quite a bit of text, I was going to copy and paste
it. It gives several steps to follow to get the page for updates to
display. Basically all I have to do is turn on automatic updates and
it will work. This time I turned off automatic updates to see what the
whole message is and it worked anyway. I have had this problem before
on and off. I seem to remember something about deleting the folder
"catroot32" under system32 folder in windows. Anyway I give you the
whole message now as it working. If it crops up again I will repost.

Thanks for responding.

Thanks

Malcolm
