Hi,

I am assisting a non-profit that is currently setup with a Windows XP
PC acting as a wireless gateway. There are 3 PC's and 1 laptop at
present in a peer-to-peer network. These folks are sharing a lot of
files and 2 printers (one is a scan/copy/print combo). I would like to
simplify things for them and make using the printers a more consistent
and cohesive experience; not to mention giving them a central place to
perform backup of their files.

I have very little experience with wireless networks and none with an
XP gateway. The PC's are all running XP or 98. Can I set this gateway
up to also act as a file/print server?

I would appreciate some assistance from the experts out there. Thank
you.

Shorty,

Any Windows computer can act as a file server, in a limited capacity. With just
4 computers total, it should do OK. Can each computer see each other, in My
Network Places?

To help you best, it would be good if you could identify each computer as:
# Desktop or laptop.
# Windows 98 or XP. If XP, Home or Pro? If Pro, Simple or Advanced File
Sharing?
# Which computers have the printers?
# Which computer is the WiFi gateway?
