I have one machine on XP and one machine on 2000. I have
DSL line into a router that feeds both computers.
Computers have Eternet connections and are hard wired.
Using Network Wizard I have both machines talking to the
internet but not to each other. What is the most effective
way to network the computers together. I tried to use the
wizard on both machines but doesn't seem to work.

Thanks

- Disable the Windows XP firewall
- Try to ping both machines
- Enable file and printer sharing on both machines

Run the Network Wizard on XP, and tell it that the computer connects
to the Internet through a residential gateway.

The Wizard won't run on 2000, and there's no need for it. The default
network settings on 2000 are compatible with XP. Setting the
workgroup name on 2000 to the same workgroup name that XP uses will
make networking them a little easier.

If you've installed a firewall program on either computer, make sure
that it's configured to allow access by the local area network.
