Windows XP and Service Pack 2= no modem, WHY?

I have installed Service Pack four times only to have to go back and
uninstall because it fails to recognize my modem after installation. I'm
using a HP Pavilion 753.

Any help out there??

Drivers? Can SP2 be installed on your HP? Is your machine capable of
supporting SP2?
