Windows update downloaded and installed SP2 on my computer almost before we
realised what was happening...so I thought okay, it should be better, right?
Wrong!! Now I have no modem on the system and cannot connect to the
internet, fortunately I had a laptop around which I could use to get onto
this site! I have just spend 5 hours searching the Knowledge base for
information, and then for a contact address for tech support - nothing!!
I'm running Windows XP, and just downloaded service pack 2 last week. Now
the modem does not appear in device manager, and I get error 797 when trying
to dial-up. It's a Lucent Win modem, that's all the info I can find about it
(internal modem).
Does anyone have any help on this - it is getting so frustrating and big
deadlines for uni projects are approaching! Thanks.
