Windows XP and Outlook Express

Recently Outlook Express has begun hanging up when
downloading Email from my home and office accounts. It
begins downloading, then hangs up. I've contacted
Bellsouth.net and all those settings are correct. One
tech suggested it might be the result of an update
download to Windows XP. Can anyone help resolve this?

Post any errors and define "hangs up".
