Windows XP and Norton Antivirus 2003 conflict

Digger

My 2 week old Norton Antivirus 2003 just started to crash. It seems to
have happened after a recent Windows update. It worked well for 2
weeks.

It is definitely conflicting with msiexec16 in the startup.

I have uninstalled and installed many times the Norton to no avail.

It will only install in safe mode with msiexec NOT loaded. It works
fine in this mode.

When I boot normally many problems arise due to msiexec being loaded
as well. But mostly autoprotect is disables and will not re-enable.
And any action/window auto closes after 15-25 seconds.

Please help.
