In looking for a packet writing soft ware for Win XP, Nero burning
software was recomended. Unfortunately when I tried to install the
InCD packet writing plugin(?) when I rebooted the system I got a blue
screen of severely ill. Part of what was in the text on the screen was
to uninstall or disable any defragmenting or antivirus software.

Well booting into safe mode and uninstalling InCD recovered the system
( that's why "severely ill" and not death.) So I tried again with
Norton antivirus disabled and got the same result.

I'm running Win XP Home ,Norton 2004 Pro antivirus and Iolo's System
Mechanic. As far as I know those are the only programs that might be
interfering with the InCD instalation.

So does anyone have Nero with InCD running on WinXP and if so how did
you do it?

Thanks for any input or suggestions.

Nope, no help there. My version of media player is 8.0.

I can't uninstall Norton as it's my sisters computer and she'd have a
hissy fit and explode.

Yep, I'm running Nero 6.3.1.6 with InCD which installed with no problems.
But then I'm not running Norton 2004 (and don't intend to - too many
problems with that one).

There appears to also be occasionally a slight problem if you also have WMP7
installed, check out the first link.
Also a bit of advice on the second link.
