Hi all, this has probably been asked before but...
I have been running xp on a computer (the version came with the computer)
but have recently upgraded the hard drive. However, windows will not
activate anymore and the telephone rep says I need to go back to the shop
and get another verison of xp. What do I do? Surely if I have bought a
computer with xp on it I should be able to install it again on the same
computer (all be it with a better hard drive!). This seems rather unfair!

Any advice

Thanks in advance

Bouk

Is it actually the same computer except for the hard drive?
If it is the same computer, call back.
Otherwise post more precise details of EXACTLY what you did.

Normally Windows that came with the computer does not require
activation.
Changing the hard drive does not change that.
Changing a motherboard might.

Did you get the computer from a major computer seller or a local shop?
Do you have an original Windows CD as well as original Product Key?
