I need help getting Windows XP Activ.key

I have a CD of Windows XP which I installed my Virtual PC onto my Mac
computer, but that was a few years ago... I have now purchased a Mac Book Pro
and wanted to change to Parallels, but after putting in the Windows XP disc,
they asked me for a Registration key, which I have no idea where it would be.
Does anyone have any idea where I could get one to use just to instal my
parallels onto my labtop??? I hate to spend so much money to purchase
something that came with the other program just to install this one.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

XP has no registration key,the key used to register retail version of xp is
a "product key"...Any product key number would be on a sticker fixed to
the folder for xp cd,if xp is from an oem, they use stickers fixed to the pc
case..

If you still have the VPC install then you will be able to recover your
product key with The magical Jellybean key finder
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml .

If you do not have the VPC install then you may be able to get a new key
from Microsoft (How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service
packs and product upgrades, or replace product manuals
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326246.

If the above doesn't work then you will need to purchase a new copy of XP.
