Windows XP Activation Code

I sold a computer to a client with Windows XP Pro pre
installed. The system builder I purchased it from forgot
to put the sticker from the packaging on the computer so
now I don't have an activation code. How can I get a
replacement code?

Call the builder?

If you have access to the system, then you can retrieve it from the
registry. This utility works for retail versions:

http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/ViewKeyXP.exe

or try this one which just gives you the key for any version:
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

andy how can you be an it pro and not know how to

rectify this situation,by the way you are legally
responsible as a pro to provide that key to your customer.

I have this illegal copy of XP that I downloaded off the net and I
can't get it to activate because the product key it uses is refused by
the activation server.
